Visible Interactions Ltd was formed in 2006 as a spin-off of the Mixed Reality Laboratory, The University of Nottingham. The company was created to market enlighten, a powerful interactive device based upon standard, domestic flashlights. enlighten uses light to breathe life into inanimate objects & surfaces.

enlighten uses patented computer vision technology. There is no need to touch the surface you want to interact with. Simply point a webcam, and our software brings the surface to life. This makes enlighten the ideal low impact solution for exploring inaccessible or delicate features.

to explore: Just shining a light onto almost any surface enables users to trigger sound, graphics, video and special effects to enhance experiences and the delivery of information. Exploring an exhibition, gallery or building has never been so exciting.

to enliven & involve: enlighten recognises individual flashlights, delivering content personalized to the user. It can track multiple flashlights simultaneously, encouraging collaboration and discussion.

at any scale: Size doesn’t matter. We've created installations of different scales, using flashlights and even searchlights! Breathing life into both posters and entire buildings! enlighten has been deployed in caves, science centres and industrial museums.
